Several months ago I signed up for a membership on the site LinkedIn. The purpose was to find other professionals that would be interested in participating in a social media site I started last year. I believe that if you belong to LinkedIn, then you would also see value in belonging to the social media site I am creating.

I began to inquire within the site to find professionals that felt that being part of a social media site was as valuable as I thought it would be. Since I began my membership in LinkedIn, I have spoken to hundreds of other professionals. A majority feel the same way about networking with others within the industry.

Of the hundreds that I have spoken to, approximately 40 have signed up for the network I created. So far, I have had 13% action by other professionals to participate in the network.

Of the 360 connections I presently have on LinkedIn, I believe that I have developed at least two unique opportunities to help provide additional resources for my financial future. The opportunities are not for a permanent change, just to support the weakening climate of my weekly job.

I feel that developing and growing a social media site on LinkedIn will give me additional opportunities for work. It will also give more opportunities to invite other professionals to participate in the social media site that has been created.

Creating and developing professional connections is key to my professional and personal future, and ultimately will benefit me financially and will provide a secure future.
